The Impact of Additive Manufacturing on Supply Chains

It was a pleasure to share my experiences and view on the impact of Additive Manufacturing (AM) on supply chains at the Joint Research Centre Zeeland with an international group of students of the University of Applied Sciences.

In addition, the students worked on two business scenarios I had prepared, for which they calculated integrated production costs and the break-even point between AM and conventional manufacturing. Each group presented their outcomes and provided a motivated decision on whether to choose for AM or not.

Their final assignment was identifying potential applications of AM that could be relevant to the companies they were interning with.

It’s inspiring and encouraging to see how educational institutions can be successful in providing relevant content to their students.

Compliments to Gerda van Beemt and Max Walravens for their initiative!
